How to Make a WhatsApp QR Code

Free · Click-to-chat · No signup

A WhatsApp QR code lets a customer start a chat with you in one scan — no saving your number, no typing, no friction. For small businesses, it's one of the most useful codes you can make. Here's how, and how it's different from other social codes.

How WhatsApp codes are different

Unlike Instagram or TikTok, a WhatsApp code isn't built from a username — it's built from your phone number. Scanning it opens a new chat addressed to you at wa.me/yournumber, so the person can message you immediately. That makes it perfect for customer service, orders, bookings, and enquiries.

How to make your WhatsApp QR code

  1. Open the QRcritter generator and click the Social tab.
  2. Choose WhatsApp from the platform dropdown.
  3. Enter your number with the country code, digits only — for example 15551234567 (US) or 447700900123 (UK). QRcritter strips any spaces or symbols automatically.
  4. Customize the colors and logo if you like, to match your business.
  5. Download the PNG for screens, or the SVG for print — counters, menus, and window decals.
The country code matters most. WhatsApp needs the full international number to open the right chat. Leave off the leading + or 00 — just the country code and number, digits only. Test it on your own phone before printing.
